5 Simple & Easy Ways to Get Unstuck in Life

learn how to get unstuck

I think we’ve all been through times when we feel stuck. Whether it’s just things not going our way or we don’t seem to have any forward momentum. Start with these 5 ways to get unstuck in life to stimulate your forward momentum.

1. Identify New Habits

Typically when we feel stuck in life it’s because we are envisioning something that we want to come to fruition but aren’t seeing it happen. Whether or not we are putting in the effort doesn’t matter, the fact is we aren’t seeing the results.

This is when it’s good to take a moment and identify what we want our end result to be and then map out how to get there. This process will require you to create and maintain new habits. And the first step to that is to identify them.

Once you identify your new habits put a plan in place to act on them. Outline each step and hold yourself to them. Set goals and take action. Over time, you’ll start to see the results and will no longer feel stuck.

2. Identify Changes to Make to Get Unstuck

Oftentimes, when we are feeling stuck there are changes that need to be made. It’s not always easy to see what they are in the moment, so this step may take some soul-searching. Really evaluating and identifying bad habits to break or changes to make takes internal courage and honesty.

Find a comforting space and quiet time to assess and figure out what changes you need to make. This will help you get unstuck. Identifying these changes is a great step. You’ll likely already start to feel unstuck as you go through this part of the process.

Of course, the next step is to take action to break these habits and make changes as necessary.

3. Spend Time Doing What You Love

This sounds simple and obvious. But for so many of us giving ourselves time to do things we love is not easy. It’s often the first thing we put aside for other tasks and other people.

Commit to yourself to do things that you love. Hobbies are so important to our happiness and to have a sense of accomplishment. So whether it’s time spent reading a book, drawing, or rebuilding an engine, make sure to allot specific time and stick to it.

Try incorporating a morning routine into your day to ensure you have time for yourself.

Feeling good is always a way to get unstuck.

4. Organize Yourself to Get Unstuck

Being organized means that your physical space and your mind are decluttered. Take some time to organize your living space and your thoughts. The process is obviously different for both but equally important.

The space that you spend the most time in, whether it’s work or home, maybe even your car, should be neat and organized. Being able to find what you are looking for and not having to rummage through things is both physically and mentally pleasing.

Organize your thoughts with to-do lists. Writing things down takes them out of your mind and eliminates the constant thinking of them since they are already accounted for on paper.

Get unstuck by creating an environment that isn’t overwhelming and a constant battlefield of input.

5. Self-Care Is a Game Changer to Get Unstuck

Try at least one form of self-care in this process of getting unstuck. If you have time and the ability to incorporate more, that’s even better.

Journaling, especially free writing- when you just write your stream of thought, is a great way to free your mind of overwhelming thoughts. It allows you to move forward and create more mental space to think clearly.

Affirmations and visualizing your future are also positive ways to get unstuck. Write affirmations, or simply repeat them to yourself throughout the day, to bring positivity into your life and help you move forward.

Visualize your future. Keep your goals in mind and see them as though you are living them. This will help you through the process of bringing them to fruition by taking steps toward them.

Get Unstuck One Step at a Time

The feeling of being stuck isn’t going to change overnight. It will take time and effort to see your changes. However, you can do it by taking it step-by-step.

Create incremental goals for yourself. Reward yourself as you achieve each goal and over time you will start to feel your forward momentum.
